HISTORY
In the late 1960s, J. Carlton Adair took a gamble on his dream of building a community in Henderson at Lake Mead with a proposed 320 acre lake as its focus. The Lake Adair development project never came to fruition. However, Lake Las Vegas was constructed by Transcontinental Properties from 1988 – 1991. In 1993, the vision of SouthShore, the first private community developed in Lake Las Vegas, with its premium view lots devised for custom homes and a Jack Nicklaus designed golf club began to take shape. Today, this exclusive community, filled with residents who have achieved their dreams, boasts the beauty of a vibrant community living at its best.
Completed in 1991, Lake Las Vegas is a 320-acre man-made lake located near Lake Mead. Situated at the northeast end of the Lake, the dam that creates the lake is 18 stories high, 4,800 ft. long and 716 ft. wide at its base. The Las Vegas Wash passes under the lake using two 96-inch pipes that take water from the Wash directly into Lake Mead.
